I am wanting to see if anyone from HP has any updates on the problems with the graphics on the Envy 17t-3200 that have been released. From another forum I am seeing quite a lot of people complaining of the same issue. I am hoping this is something they are working on.
I have the non 3D and bought this model due to the fact that HP advertises on their main Product page
Premium viewing.
- Create immersive, panoramic viewing for work or play. Connect up to 3 external displays to the ENVY 17 to make a total of 4 screens for your viewing pleasure.
- Sit back and enjoy your favorite videos, photos, and Web pages on your TV with Intel Wireless Display[2].
- See brighter, cleaner images in high definition from HP TrueVision HD Webcam. Chat with friends virtually any time of the day, anywhere in the world[3].
Also in their Getting Started Manual on page 71 it speaks of the 3 external monitors and also setting up Eyefinity. Their ATI Radeon 7850 M through the Catalyst Control Center has no option for this and you can only run 2 external monitors at this point. Even though the Getting Started Manual show that you can run 3...and with pictures too.
I was with Tech support for a good 4+ hours in (2) different sessions and also with the AMD ATI tech for a couple. None can figure out the problem and understand why the CCC is a stripped down version. Both of my Techs were very kind and treated me with respect giving me their time and effort. They said that they had not heard of this before....however I have read posts by so many others that have been in touch with Tech Support with the same issue and I find that rather odd.
I see in this area that there have been new BIOS updates for the DV7 concerning the fixed and dynamic graphics. It seems like this a a really big problem across the board!!!! Hopefully this is being addressed and will be fixed REAL SOON.
Anyone know anything?

They have already told me once that this computer only supports 2 external monitors with the display ports.
I will post an update when I get it

I don't get this...all we need is the ability to disable the Ivy Bridge graphics in the BIOS, or the ability to tell the computer to use the Intel graphics when on battery, and the AMD graphics when on AC power. For most people, this would be an adequate solution.

Keep us posted on your experience.
After I called support....they had no answer or promise of a new Bios update or driver updates.
We can only hope HP stands up on their ethics.
