Flickering horizontal blue lines across black areas on screen

Hey there

I've got an HP Pavilion laptop, model dv9820ea, and it's given me nearly three years service without a single crash - I love it.
However, in the last week or so there's been lots of flickering horizontal blue lines appearing on the screen, anywhere where black is the predominant colour .. as Blackle is my homepage, it's fairly obvious and covers the whole display.

Anyone know what it is ? I've downloaded the latest display drivers and they're still there ..

 

Can anyone advise please???

restart your PC.. press F10 as soon as you see the HP logo.. you'll reach to BIOS Setup screen... check if you still get those lines....

It's difficult to say as the screen is predominantly blue and grey with hardly any black at all ..

 

On the pre-startup screen when the Microsoft Windows "bar" appears at the foot of a black screen, the lines are evident then.

 

I've tried drivers both from Nvidia and from HP and neither has worked. The lines are worrying me .. I feel like the whole machine is about to fail but don't know what to do about it ..

now try with an external monitor..

 

most probably its the screen has gone bad.. :smileysad:

Just ran it through an HDMI cable to my tv and it's fine on there.

 

So in less than three years, it's knackered ?

Jeez ... it was not a cheap machine, either. Is there nothing I can do to save it ??

you can change the screen....

 

is your notebook getting overheated???

I'm not sure if it is overheating ... these are the stats from Speedfan :

GPU       59c

HD0       37c

Temp1  54c

Core      53c

 

 

How on earth do I change the screen ? How much would it cost ?
Would it be covered by the warranty ??

ok

 

one more thing...

 

is it making any difference when you move the LID???

 

m not sure but changing some components of the LCD (like backlight or the cable etc) might resolve the issue...
