Yes you can do both, BUT to view BlueRay on your TV you need to connect the HDMI then press FN+F4 (1 or 2 times) untill the Display is on the TV ONLY ... there can be no display on the notebook's screen at all, if there is you will get an error stating that you cannot view this media in the current display mode ... or something similar.
