Hi,

Does your laptop has problem with overheating?

Check temps by using software like HwMonitor.

Re: Graphic card drivers problem

[ Edited ]

The above is nowhere near a solution.

I'm experiencing the same behavior with a fresh install of Windows 7. This is not a heat issue as the laptop exhibits the behavior on every single boot and every few minutes afterward. It does not happen with a basic MS provided VGA driver, only when the HP driver is installed...The behavior is consistant using the driver provided by ATI.

The firmware has been updated to current and I have verified the problem is present using different version of win7 as well as different memory modules.

Additionally, there are no issues in Ubuntu 12.10 using the nouveau driver under a heavy load (two 1080p flash videos playing in Youtube while a 720p mkv file plays in VLC). I haven't gone as far as installing the proprietary drivers as I have now ruled out hardware as a source of the problem.

UPDATE: I seem to have rectified the problem by installing the Intel chipset package prior to installing the HP provided catalyst kit. The system has been up and downloading updates for approximately 30 minutes without the driver crashing.

Hello ubuntuguy,

Your ProBook is a Business model.  Your issue would be best answered on the HP Enterprise Business Community Forum.

Good luck!
