Grey Box on top left corner of Desktop

After I installed Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion dv4t-1400 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, a grey box shows up in the top left corner on my desktop.  I have to restart my computer for it to go away.  I chatted with an HP technician, who told me to install the Nvidia graphics card driver on my laptop, after I reassured him that my laptop does not have an Nvidia graphics card, so this was of no help.  It still does this, and I can't figure out a way to fix it.  Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?  I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 drivers for my PC the day that HP released them, so I don't know what the problem can be..
