HDMI No sound - DV6T-3100

I have a dv6t-3100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC.

The last time I was successful connecting to my Sharp Aquos LC52D62U via HDMI cable was about three months ago.

I found out about a month ago that I lost audio from the same connection. I am suspecting some of the "automatic updates" may have jeopardized the driver. I couldn't pinpoint which update it was since there are so many of them.

I tried going through many posts and searches, but couldn't find solution. 

Please let me know what to do to get back the sound.

The notebook has Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit with 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.

Hi Patt,

With the notebook connected to your Tv, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click the AMD HDMI Output once to highlight it and then click the Set Default buuton.  Click Apply to save this change.  Do you now get audio over the HDMI connection?

Before I posted this thread, I'd tried that exact thing so many many times, and there was no sound coming out.

After receiving your message, I was going to reply just like that.

But I told myself to give it another try, and there it was... I've got the sound came out from the TV!

I truly don't know what I did different from those unsuccessful times.

Is it possible Windows had done another update to fix it?

Hi Patt,

You're welcome and I'm glad it helped

This sort of issue can be a bit picky - sometimes the HDMI connection isn't properly recognised and so setting the default audio to this then fails to work.

I HAVE A PAVILION DV6-320US ENTERTAINMENT PC I DOWNLOAD A FEW MOVIES FROM MY COMPUTER USING A CABLE HDMI CORD HOOKED UP FROM THE LAPTOP TO THE BACK OF MY SAMSUNG TELEVISION. I CAN SEE THE MOVIE FROM MY LAPTOP TO MY TV. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT I CAN ONLY HEAR THE SOUND FROM THE LAPTOP AND NOT FROM MY TELEVISION WHAT AM I DOING WRONG

Hi,

Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback devices.  What devices are listed here?
