HDMI laptop to TV, no sound

Hello,

Today was my first time connecting my notebook to my HDTV by HDMI cable. It immediately reformats and the computer screen appears on the TV. I didn't have to do anything expcept connect the two devices by HDMI cable.

I wanted to play a video through Windows Media Player and noticed the sound was coming from my notebook instead of the TV? The picture was fine.

How do I make the sound come from the television?

My OS: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

You will need to set HDMI as Default Audio out...To switch the audio source in the Control Panel, follow the steps below.

Click Start , Control Panel , Hardware and Sound , and then Sound, Select the HDMI audio device, click Set Default , and then OK.

When I go to Control Panel and go to the Sounds menu, all i have are the integrated speakers, Indpendent Dual Headphones, and SPDIF (Digital Out Via HP Dock).

None of the options work. HDMI audio device isn't there.

Hmmm...So it looks like we will need to install the graphics driver back and check....Can i get the exact model number of the notebook?

OK...Just Double checking...When you were checking for HDMI option under sound properties playback, was the HDMI cable connected to TV? As the HDMI option will not show up under Sound, until the HDMI cable connected to the TV...

Install the above 2 drivers only if the HDMI option does not show up under sound after connecting notebook to the TV using HDMI...

No. Nothing shows up other than the three things I mentioned in an earlier post.

Thank you for the drivers. I installed them and I got the results I wanted. HDMI Device was finally in the Sound playback tab and worked successfully.

Sorry. I just did a trial and it worked.

But now I am not getting any sound from my laptop itself once I disconnect from the HDTV.

The only option available under the playback setting is Speakers.
