HDMI video not displaying hpG70-460US

my product name is HP G70-460US NOTEBOOK pc,recently bought an hdmi convrter with cable,when i plugged in the hdmi the video on tv will not come although sound does how can i fix this ?is there something wrong with my hdmi port cos the same converter hdmi with cable was used with another hp laptop it worked jst fine .kindly let me know thanku!

My experience is, plug it in first then start the pc. try that.
