HP DV4 white/green horizontal line on the LCD screen

I bought my HP DV4T-1000 in Jan 2009. It also have the same problem from July 15, 2010. The warranty is expired. I don't know what I should do. Just avoid to buy HP again? Hope HP will give us a solution.

Mine is a DV5, 1135ei. The flickering problem spreads in the whole LCD. HAve posted in this forum for some time now but no answer seems to be forthcoming. I think no one has an idea on what consumers sould do about this problem, not even HP care center. MY RECOMMEDATION: KEEP OFF HP PRODUCTS. THEY ARE ONE BIG NIGHTMARES TO OWN. ISN'T HP CONCERNED ABOUT LOOSING ALL THIS BUSINESS?

Hello Guys,

I would just like to update you with my DV4..I opened this topic for me to look for a solution to my flickering

white/green horizontal line on the LCD screen...

Finally I got my Repairs done..on the HP service center here in the Philippines (Buendia Ave,Makati City,PH)

here are the details:

DV4-1413TX

Intel P8700

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

NVIDIA G105

Date of Purchase is August 2009

Problem: Flickering line on the bottom of LCD screen w/c seems to spread as time progresses

Warranty is 1 year...with extended warranty to 3years thanks to the HP Care Pack w/c was bundled

with the purchase.

Solution given by HP service center: Replaced my LCD screen..Service is good so far..It took almost a week

for the repairs to be done,shipping of parts to the service center here in PH took a while.Services and Repairs are

all free since I am under warranty...

Advice: take your laptop to an authorized or official HP Service Center..If You buy an HP laptop,bundle it with Care Pack..

I have a Pavilion dv4 1225dx purchased in March 2009. My screen problem just started, October 5th, 2010. The computer was out of commission for a while due to power jack problem. (also has harddrive over heat and failure problem) I solved the power problem with a quick dock. It was after I started using the quick dock that the line problem began. (The power connection problem had been intermittent, but I stopped using the laptop to keep from making it worse.)

If we can identify a set of shared circumstances with our failing computers we maybe able to identify where the problem lies and if its with HP hold them responsible. Perhaps all these screens came from the same manufacturing run. My display is '14.1" Diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)'

When did you buy yours? 

What is your screen spec?

Did you use a quick doc, or do something new soon before the problem appeared?

I am having the same problem with my laptop.  A very nice flickering green/flouresecent bar at the bottom of my screen that started as 2 pixels accross the whole screen and has now expanded to roughly half of the task bar. 

Just got done speaking with customer service, and because my product is out of warranty by a few weeks they can only offer a screen replacement at 80% of the cost I paid for the piece of junk to begin with.

I have a Dv4-1430us, purchased in September of 2009.

This is clearly a design flaw if many people experience this problem, not a result of a standard failure rate of electronics production.  That kind of failure is usually in the form of a total hardware malfunction, not a slow developing issue.

Even I have the same problem. Is it a design flaw? I called them to check the cost to repair this. They say it will be more tha 300$. At the bottom of the screen, it flickers and the toolbar/data is completely invisible. Let me know if you have any other solution to fix this problem.

i bought a dm4 last year and the screen also died after 6 months of use. see my other thread on this topic.

i think it's poor quality from HP product. THey wouldnt replace it for free even though mine is still under warranty.

I am very angry at HP in general and will never buy another product from them again.

Guys,

         If this LCD issue carries on to the next models of HP laptops, It gives proof that HP was not able to do any corrective actions to improve quality of the products to thier customers.

         I think the LCDs that HP is using for their laptops are not manufactured by HP. Their laptops like other brands order their components from different sources. Their could be many factors that is causing this problem, It could be an application / design flaw...it could be a known defect for LCDs that are supplied to them.. It can also be an assembly issue..We will never know what really is causing this, but this is HPs job to find out and HPs job to apply the necessary corrective actions and provide service to the consumers who bought their product.

DV4t-1200 bought in march 09

Out of warranty now

Had a screen replacement when it was under warranty due to lcd problems

Already tried to disassembly and move the cables, but no success

Don't know exactly if the problem is the inverter, lcd cable, or something else

Gonna try to take it apart again and turn it on with the screen apart from the body

HP sucks, never more

i have the same problem with my hp dv4 1506tx.screen is flickering like hell.problem started just after warranty is over.it is the result oe bad enggineering.
Took it to the service centre and they gave me the quotation of 300$,**bleep** ? what is the guarantee that they have rectified the problem in 14.1 wxga screen.
I will never buy any product of hp,not even a flash drive neither let my friends do the mistake.
