HP DV6000 Laptop - Beeps & blank screen

I bought a Compaq presario V3700 model.  Bought also the 3 year extended warranty. Over the first year and a half it developed screen problems that I could live with but then it got worse. Eventually had my computer in to be repaired once. They replaced the mother board and the screeen. Twice and they replaced the screen again. And lastly  for the third time and final as the warranty has now expired again, to have the screeen yet again replaced. Either the parts are too cheaply manufactured or the service department is incompetant. Cost me so much waisted time and money posting the computer that it would have been better to bin the computer on the first fail. I won't buy another HP product no matter what they offer. Customer service and satisfaction is just not part of what they offer. They offer cheaper inferior products.

All this based on my experience and of my own opinion of course.

Oh, and lastly to finish, now Taiwan post won't accept postage of my computer any longer and so I will return there in 6 months time to pick up my  garbage.

i have the same problem. the warranty is out of date and so i took it upon myself  to fix it. i got it working again by taking out the motherboard. cleanded and heated the video chip with a heat gun. after i tested it and put everything bsck together it worked for a short while. then the screen went blank again. i am currently using a 2002 dell inspiron 1000 that i had since new . never has it failed me once. i also have an asus that i love and never have problems w except for the wife using it all the time. i will never buy a hp product again. i read somewhere online they have a class action lawsuit against them. i hope they get what they deserve. hp should have adopted compacs quality when they bought  them out. i gave  away a 1996 compaq destop pro to a friend a coule years ago there has never been one problem w it, and hes still using it. why cant they make stuff like that anymore?

there are only very temperary fixes for this. save your time and money by new but not hp. the only good fix is with a sledge hammer.

I currently own 3 HP laptops and a numerous HP printers.  2 of the not very old laptops are having major trouble. Loud "beeping" is just one of them. Shut down issues are big problems too.

Also having trouble with a brand new HP Printer.   I think it is time to change brands. 

If anyone figures out how to stop the blasted deafening beeping please post.

although, you said it was highly unlikely as you said i have a case for my hp pavillion (2500 series) which has the same problems so i would like to know what the 4 beeps means please

Turned out to be an incompatible plug in key board.

Lots of repair services wanted to replace the motherboard which was fine in the end.

Saved a ton of money.
