HP ENVY 15t-3000 to sony kdl-26m4000 via HDMI

i have the same problem with an hp eny 14 111nr, 64bit win7.......going to very current gen 3D Samsung LED TV

after eveything else(hdmi cable to tv worked with another HP win7 laptop, etc.) was checked/double checked, the

source of the problem was the envy.  i decided that perhaps i needed to load the most current driver

for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 from the hp.com driver site. 

=> It dowloaded ok.......... but the install was broken. 

=> It successfully installed the ATI Catalyst Install Manager.

=> Failed to intall the ATI Display Driver.

=> Successfully installed the HDMI/DP Audio Driver.

Error message at the bottom of the install report:

Driver Install: the installation failed.

HP site provided no error message explanation and no troubleshooting.

Any ideas?

Make sure you download the correct driver for your PC. Search driver by model of PC and then select OS type.

thanks for the reply.  i located the driver i downloaded from the hp driver site using my complete model number...hp envy 14 1111nr (it has win7 64 bit, beats audio, ati radeon as i stated in my original post..) -

i selected the newer of the two drivers, since both should have worked, and i was specifically

looking for an hdmi solution. if it's not too much trouble, please advise which driver you would select

from the hp driver site for this model #.  Thaks for any add'l help.

The file should be sp50656.exe

That's the driver i've now tried to install at least 3 times.....

just tried again with the same results....

i have not done an un-install of the driver BEFORE trying to

do the the sp50656.exe as i'm a little paranoid that i'll

lose my current graphics capability.....any other ideas?

sometimes I see anti-virus software and User Account Control can cause some installation issues. Try turning it off and make sure you run the installation as Administrator. Please send me a screen shot of device manager showing the Display adapters.

Howdy!  ran again, as admin and no AV running....still fails.....thanks for any add'l thoughts. jack

Did you turn off anti-virus and UAC? Please send the screen shot of display adapter in device manager.
