I have an HP G62 as mentioned in the Heading and when I got the laptop it said that my laptop has 1696mb of shared memory. It only uses 56mb at the most which can get frustrating. I know what shared memory is but is there any way possible to increase the rather small 56mb to something like 256mb? I tried looking in the BIOS and there is no option to change it.
Another question. if I'm only using 56mb and it states 1696mb memory, where is the rest of the 1496mb going?
Thank you

OS will arrange it for you, it depends on the application running, no user setting is available.
For the second question, the rest of memory will be allocated to main system memory.

Thank you for your answer.
So if there is a game for example that requires 256mb of graphic memory, will the OS then allocate 256mb or will it stick to 56mb and leave the rest as RAM?

Yes, theoretically it will be allocated for that game, however Intel HD not meant for gaming, dont expect too much about it.
