HP PAvilion dv6000 screen goes crazy

I've been having problems with my 5ish years old laptop for a little while. First I had a black screen that wouldn,t turn on, but I fixed it with the Hard Refresh/Restart method. but now, my screen now and then goes crazy. What I mean by that is that green pixels start flashing and sometimes the whole screen is like a green white and black "snow" like on the TVs with no cable. It's a bit hard to explain, but it's very scary! I first had this problem a couple weeks ago, I restarted my computer and it worked for a while, but not it's doing it again and I dont know what to do. However, if I plug in another screen, the separate screen works just good, but my laptop is still going crazy. It there a way to fix this or is my computer just getting old ??
