HP Pavilion DV6-6117dx - Horizontal, flickering lines appear after display automatically turned off

The DV6-6117dx model (as well as other HP Pavilion notebooks) have experienced an issue where the screen will display a flickering, horizontal line near the top of the display after it has been automatically turned off (note:  not in Sleep or Standby Mode).

There is a setting to "Turn Off Display after [X] minutes" in the power options.  I have my DV6-6117dx set to dim the screen after 10 minutes and turn it off after 15 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes, but not always, when I move the mouse to turn the screen back on, a couple flickering, horizontal lines will appear at the top of the display.  It is very annoying and the only way to remove them and have the screen return to normal is either a.) putting the computer to Sleep and re-awakening it or b.) restarting the entire system.

While putting the notebook to sleep and re-awakening isn't a huge issue, I shouldn't have to do this, period.  I owned a Toshiba laptop for about 6 years and never had an issue with it like this (the reason I bought a new laptop was because my old one was 6 years old and the technology was way, way outdated).

HP says it's a software issue, but has not come up with a way to fix it yet (at least not that I've found).  I'm asking any and all 'Experts' out there if they have a definitive way to solve this common issue experienced by certain HP notebook models?  I've been told to uninstall and reinstall video drivers to no avail.  I've been told to install video drivers only from AMD, and then only from HP, and then only from Windows Update, but none of these solutions worked.  I've been told to update the BIOS, but that didn't solve the problem.  I've been told to try restoring the system to factory settings, but this has not helped.  It's obviously a software issue, but no one at HP seems to have a definitive solution how to fix it.  Is my only hope to return my laptop to be replaced by a different model entirely?

Hopefully someone out there has an answer this is common issue that I know a lot of HP notebook owners have experienced.  Thanks!

Hi,
Connect your notebook to external display and check is this problem showing up there too or not.

Note:
Use FN + f4 combination to switch screens.

Yes, it is not a physical display issue, but something in the software itself. It happens if I'm using an external display.
