Can you tell us which chip(s) were replaced? If I can find out what is failing and can fix my own board, I will publish pictures of the repair so others might do it for a reasonable cost. It is very common that a proccess is faulty in the same manner for many boards.
Thank you for sharing your successes.

You can reflow the board without replacing anything. The Nvidia GPU is failing at the solder.
If you get the board out you can do the fix for free. Not great-but replacing the board/gpu isn't really perm. fix either.
Just a flawed unit from the get-go.

@Aaminah,
The guy who replaced/fix your mobo is not "real" professional. He did not make it right.
Ask for refund from him/her.
If the heat treatment is done correctly, it should withstand way longer and a month.

Asking for a refund on a fix like a reflow is sorta debateable. I think anyone undergoing a reflow as a fix;whether performed by themselves or another party, does so at their own risk. Repairs of this nature, regardless if it's a car or a computer. typically have no warranty. Asking this person to back their work, when HP tells it's customers to go to ****, seems misdirected. And heck, we've read numerous incidences where people had their motherboards/gpus replaced with new-and they lasted anywhere from a week to 6 months.
Let's face it, odds of trying to fix one of these DV units is going to be temporary at best, regardless of how you do it. And remember, I said odds. Some people may get lucky and have a repaired unit last longer then a year-but it'll be luck (and gingerly and conservatively using it)

Refund maybe debatable but offering service without a know how would be a bad bussiness practice.
A professional reflow should do reflow with temperature profile as this
By doing it right, there is no way it will fail for a month of use.
OP may have use service from unrepeatable computer service shop.

I would check the extended warranty information to see if your laptop is covered. Mine has the same problem... but unfortunately mine just went out of warranty and my product number is not covered. As for your information in your hard drive, you can find a ide to usb hard drive connector or connector case for like $15-40 USD on the internet... pretty much what it does is turned your old hard drive into a portable external harddrive that you can plug into the USB of another computer. You would be able to access any of your saved files from there. Hope that helps.

HP should have had a total recall on the v6000!!!
Funny how in May they fixed my wife's v6000 FOR FREE, now 5 Mo. later they say their policy has changed and wanted $285.00 to fix mine THEIR MISTAKE!!!!
I WILL NEVER BUY AN HP PRODUCT AGAIN, IN FACT I WILL NOT EVEN TAKE ANYTHING FOR FREE "EXCEPT A FREE REPAIR" AS THEY DID BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!
Complain to the BBB force them to fix all these $1300.00 Doorstops!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine went out about late July or early August and it's been such a pain!! I didnt even Google the isue to see if anyone else was having the problem until today when my mom remembered to tell me she saw somethin a couple weeks ago. I hook mine up to her monitor and I can see everything but as for the LCD itself--NO GO!!!
So from the way Im reading these posts--HP is doing absolutely nothing to fix it?? And if they are someone please let me know how to go about doing it!!!

Hello to all...
I have been having the same problem as you all have had. It started out first that my wireless card wasn't working. The light stayed on amber vs. blue. I had to download a fix for this problem from HP's own driver support. Then my computer stated making a beeping sound while the screen turned in different colors. I coudln't get my laptop to stop so I had to shut my laptop down by holding in the power button. When I went to turn it back on, the screen was blank (black) and the laptop kept turning itself off then back on.
I downloaded a vista repair and burned it to a cd from a desktop. This did nothing to help.
I contacted HP and I was told that there was a RECALL on this laptop but the recall had expired with in a week from my call. Now why would a company recall a recall???? I can not believe that HP will not stand behind their product. I purchased my notebook in 2007.
HP needs to step up to the plate and do something about this. If they care about their customer's business, they would have already done something about this and not recall a recall. I advise everyone to call the B.B.B. and complain. Further more I also advise everyone to write a letter of complaint to :
