Instead of policing us, why not do something constructive and try to help us with the problem?

Hey guys and gals.
It should be more than obvious by now that HP has no intention of fixing your sick and failing computers.
Rather than sit and stew about it, spend $79 and get your problem fixed!
Look thru the past posts on this thread and your will find (more than once) two different vendors that have proven to be good (and the happy responders have posted on this thread.
Go to ebay and do a search on the two vendors trhat you find in this thread. ((If I am so bold as to give youy a direct email address, HP will delete the address--sorry 'bout that).
I have had two different laptops fixed (neither one the subjct of this thread--a DV6000 and a G-60)--but they had the exact same problem with the nvidia chip set.
I used the source on eBay other than Avon--and the results weree great. I couldn't be happier at getting my two HP laptops back and running .like they should.
As much as we all might gripe and moan about the callous HP customer service (i.e., ignore the user community over this issue, just bite the bullet and get the problem fixed--sure is a lot cheaper than going out and buying another laptop.
Waiting for a justified fix from HP just isn't going to happen, so take action yourself to get your laptop back up and running.

I would not trust someone on the web that can get all my info from my hard drive unless I were to remove my drive prior to sending it.
Thanks anyway.

Most of the repair services tell you to remove the hdd before sending the laptop. Wes has proven to offer a good service to members.>>Nvidia GPU Repair

In 2008, we spent around $1,850 for HP Pavilion DV9700t CTO with Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS through Costco, and 10 days later we received the laptop from Shanghai, China. The note book kept crashed on any day we used it like it has been under a curse. We called Costco, Costco kicked us to HP, then back and forth till we ran out of warranty. We learned a lesson for life, that is,
"HP products are not reliable!"

I have the same issue with the blank screen but need to know how to deal with it since apparently HP won't be helping. It seems to work OK on an external monitor. My question is if this is safe and for how long? Should I be worried about the system crashing completely and losing everything?
