WHAT A WASTE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY!!! HP HAS NOT SEEN THE LAST OF ME. I HAVE WRITTEN NUMEROUS EMAILS TO MANY NEWS NETWORKS AND I URGE YOU ALL TO DO THE SAME THING. I'VE ALSO CONTACTED MY LOCAL NEWS WHO IS WORKING ON RUNNING A STORY IN THE CONSUMER PROTECTION SEGMENT. HP WILL REGRET THIS MISTAKE. MY UNIT CAUSE A FIRE AND THEY STILL WONT TAKE CARE OF MY COMPUTER. I HAVE A BLOG WITH OVER 500k VISITORS DAILY TO WHICH WILL SEE THE LOUSY SERVICES THEY ARE PROVIDING TO THIER CUSTOMERS. I HAVE A HP PAVILLION 9720US. MY COMPUTER WOULD OVERHEAT WITHIN MINUTES OF TURNING ON AND FRYING MY MOTHERBOARD LITTLE BY LITTLE. THEN THE FIRE FOR WHICH I AM TOLD WELL YOUR UNIT IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO IT WILL COST YOU $$298.00 DISCOUNTED TO REPAIR IT!! wWTF??? SINCE WHEN IS IT THE CONSUMERS FAULT FOR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE WE BOUGHT WITH THE ASSUMPTION THAT WE WERE GETTING GOOD PRODUCTS???? i HAVE SENT A LETTER ALSO TO THE CONSUMER pRODUCTS BOARD.... THEY WILL BE SORRY THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO BE LIKE TOYOTA WAS IN THE BEGINNING!!!

Well, that explains my problems.
The screen started up black and a couple of re-boots got it going again. Now it has gone completely. I think wifey and I will be ringing HP New Zealand to have a chat.
But just a request to the many of you who love large font and caps and bold text - please don't. We can read it and screaming ain't appreciated.

I just saw this after posting my own...here is my Post:
Model: Hp Pavilion DV9233CL (Purchased May 6, 2007)
By the way I think we should also blame Nvidia for the issue. Maybe HP should replace our MotherBoard with an onboard ATI video driver.
I was told I would have to pay over $400 bucks to fix this. I ponied up because AMEX Extended Warranty is covering the costs.
Who on this thread has sent their laptop in for repairs? Any issus with repair?
Has anybody tried to go to Best Buy's Geek Squad for repair?

We are an IT Outfit, We are not HP partner or affiliate to do hardware repair, but we have seen 2 of 125 laptops we service, So I have the same reoccuring problem 3 times in HP. I do have 20 out there that are fine though. But I believe it's this specific model that overheats or motherboard/vid breaks. I do feel it maybe some user abuse due to putting it on carpet or bag and overheat does something. The three I have at our office have run fine. They are older series (coreduo, turion which we personally take care of and travelwith minimally 17"). We have the dv9925nr broken , it continues to reboot after blue turns on. HP NEEDS TO OWN UP and swap and recondition these laptops. We have already curbed HP spending, If you have issues tell your friends and family not to buy any more HP. Hurt them in the pocket book till someone in management gets laid off. However HP is one of the largest manufacturers but many companies come and go (packard bell, IBM). HP and it's bad handling of this may need to learn. Toshiba did a huge recall/settlement of their units via AT&T and other corperates.. They are still around. but my peers don't buy Toshiba any more. Maybe we should all boycott BP gas and ALL haleburt companies for the Oil blunder in the gulf. Keep posting please. I did it because someone else did here and told readers to post. I have two serial number I can report. I hope HP loses this future class action but this will cost consumers later, I really hope the idiot who is along the management chain get fired or never works for or with my companies. I can stand that kind of coverup and incompetence. Short sightedness

See the artifacts on my screen from the malfunctioning Nvidia chip. HP is now help over the phone. All they know how to do is reset computer. One rep says yeah it sounds like your motherboard needs to be replaced and the other says I need a new LCD. I said it is definately the motherboard (POS).
I just submit my laptop to hp to have it fix. Is has shipped back 3 hours after they received it. I hope they actually fixed it.

Well it seems alot of people have this same problem, as do I. I bought two HP Pavillion DV9309ea PN: GF737EA#ABB between March & June 2007 which at the time I thought was a good buy for R13000.00 each ( about $1900.00) they functioned well until just after the warranty expired and both started with the same issue with the screen garbled graphics lines, blank screen and a battle to reboot using the external monitor port. I have contacted HP and the plainly say that my warranty is expired and I also do not fall into the limited extened warranty and I would need to pay for a repair my self despite there being this known issue with the Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 chip. I asked to speak to someone higher than the complaints department but they refused to give me contact details. I feel HP should repair these systems on their own cost or replace the systems. When the problem first occured I contacted HP not aware of this issue being a more common issue untill recently, they told me in SA that the Systems were imported and they only had one technician who handled it and it would also depend on whether parts were available. I also cannot affored to pay the repairs as it would be more feasable to buy a new Notebook with the same features (a different make this time thou) the costs of the repair would pay for it. No I want HP to replace or repair my systems I will not accept that I have to lose so much money on these assets which were used for business.
HP SHOULD HELP US!!
