Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

I just emailed Léo Apotheker, the CEO and president of HP. I am not holding my breath by let's see if/what happens.

Google "email CEO of HP" and fill out the form.

http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/execteam/email/ceo/index.html

Does anyone have a means of compiling a list of customers/contact details who have faced this issue?  It would be good to get together on this issue and make someone pay attention.

No list, but this one topic has 63 pages (620) responses. I suppose that alone makes it a decent list of dissatisfied consumers.

As if this whole fiasco now makes any difference...

The new HP CEO has decided to sell the personal computer division and will instead try to emulate IBM.

So much for HP personal computers!

Other than the Nvidia fiasco (and I had two computers that failed), I still think the HP laptops are far superior to what else is out there--although the newer ones now looks cheap and less professional..

I had great results in using an eBay professional to fix my two computers.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

Hi:

They guy I used was listed on eBay, but is NOT the one several people have mentioned on this thread.

The one time I posted the guy's email address, HP deleted it.

Do a search on laptop repair or LCD repair, and look for a guy in Ohio.  The charge was $79 and the service was great, and with professional equipment, not a propane torch.

One of my two machines had  a broken wire to the LCD, and it was fixed as part of the solder reflow for the nvidia chip.

If I can find the reference to this great guy I will post again (and hope that HP won't delete it).

Cheers,

Aha -- finally found it!

Do an eBay search on laptop video repair.

The guy is in Lebanon, OH -- and the price is still $79.

Not sure if HP will allow the seller name to remain in this post, but it is prolaptoprepair.

I can't toot this guy's horn enough -- he sure fixed my two HP machines (a DV6000 and a G60).

To me, it is well worth the time and effort to get a good HP laptop back up and running.

Cheers.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

What are we, the little people paying the big Corp CEO's exorbitant salary, missing here?? It's simple. They just settled (and replaced laptops) a class action suit for models up to 9700 in April or so. 9700 models and up have THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS THOSE REPLACED IN THE SUIT!! I don't see how HP is allowed to say "ok we know all of our laptops have these problems, but we are only going to settle SOME of the complaints". Who draws the line?? I'm PISSED OFF!!

Same deal with the battery recall. Mine overhears and shuts the laptop down randomly. I've had burns on my legs from setting it on my lap. I can check off every reason given for the recalled batteries as they relate to mine. And the joke is they keep adding more model numbers to the recall list. And every time I match my number up to their numbers and X's. Yet when I click submit, I get a message that my battery is not part if the recall. It's just all one big joke ON US!

Lesson learned HP big**bleep**s<<lol, typo, but not...any time I hear "HP" I shudder. And I tell anyone who will listen or read what I have to say about my HP nightmare.

I just spent $1800 on a new Mac Book Pro for my daughter, who is starting her senior year at the University of Missouri. And I spent the money with no regrets. Thank the Lord she listened to my bitching about HP. I feel like I've passed on some great consumer info to my next generation:smileyhappy:

I have also had a lot of problems. I have found that you can run if you just use a generic video driver. If you go to control panel, device manager, display adapters, and double click on the driver, then click the driver tab and click on rollback and restart mine has worked. There was someone on here that said they could close the screen down and it would work probably has a bad monitor cable which I also had. They replaced it under warranty as well as one of the hard drives. I am with everyone else here. Unless hp fixes this their selves I will never buy another HP product.
