Same problem here and there are tens of thousands of damaged laptops sold, the forums are full all over the net with the nvidia heating issue. I have a dv6000 and nvidia 7400.

I now agree that I will stick to Lenovo from now on as they are more rugged and easier to fix plus they have had recalls that they honor.

NVIDIA or HP or both should get together and fix their mistake. I own shares of both companies and want this taken care of as a customer as well. I was sent a satisfaction survery after my call to their toll-free line and gave them bad reviews, I have yet to hear from anyone.

I'm in the same boat. While working on my HP Pavilion dsv9700, the screen grayed out with graphic lines. From there system was holted and nothing was happening. I had to shut it off, tried it back on, but it won't turn on, instead the power light stayed just for a second or two and then went out; this process repeats until I take out my battery out. I took my laptop to a local computer repair store, and the technician told me that there are lot of HP Pavilion laptops having the same problem. He said he has piles of HP Pavilions left in his store to dispose off, because he said the customers don't want to repair them for its high cost. I too, for the fear of high cost, couldn't repair. I wish HP company recall such HP laptops for their long run business.

I have been informed that HP has been paid by Nvidia to repair this problem and they have only recalled a few specific models even though other models are affected, no recall has been issued. I and many other laptop owners have been affected. Does anyone from HP actually monitor this site? HP please help us HP.

Looks like HP's way of saying they provide excellent customer service is to have all owners blog on this exchange forum about their problems and actually helping each other without mentioning anything that would putting anything about legal/ lawsuits about HP and without providing any kind of tech support from their tech either. What a way to run tech support. HP are you listening? This is not a threat but a statement that is protected by my civil rights so do not delete this statement HP as it is not a threat.
