Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

Another information for HP-PR,
Today I was about to delete the stability chart (changed to Windows7 from Vista, in Nov.14 of 2011) on my HP Pavilion dv-9700t CTO., because of the chart has been filled with red-dots and low score on stability scale. However I changed my mind, I decided to keep the file as a reminder how unstable the HP-laptop is, and how stupid I was to spent $1,800 of our hard earn money to buy an American brand -Hewlet Packard. Ask those top HP leaders if they still have some American pride left in their vision ...?

[ Edited ]

A couple of months ago, I mentioned that I contacted a HP rep on Twitter and explained the problem... he informed me that the he apparently had the forum reps looking into this.

This guy has finally come back to me and told me that my issue was dealt with before and he outlined options. I had spoken to a HP Customer Service rep sometime ago and their response was the usual nonesense- "its not recalled, so your option is to pay to have this repaird" - {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion}

I can't imagine that there isn't someone / anyone who is ok with us being so badly let down by HP.

We only can complain and complain, and inform everybody that is about to buy a new HP computer. Of course my enterprise had to buy new computers, and we had HP, now we change to Lenovo....

Every single user has it´s participation on HP suscess.... If they are not taking case of us, future of HP wont be a good option for user as it used.

I have a nice 1000USD brick 17", cause HP decided to save money and not to install another fan for CPU....

That´s super! and worse is that they know that it´s their fault, but as this model has no so much influence they decide to change others but not this model...

shame on hp

Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

Another sad dv9700 owner here.

My problem _might_ be different, however.

I actually have another post on this forum:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/HP-Pavilion-dv9700-KL086AV-display-problem/t...

Basically, I can still get a display on an external monitor, but not on the internal LCD display panel, except...

when I remove my display panel/inverter/lcd cable and connect it to the motherboard of my wife's working dv9000, it works fine.

Soooo, I'm actually at kind of a loss here. I know the LCD panel is fine, the lcd display cable is fine, and the inverter is fine. I also know the video card is not _totally_ dead because I can get a perfectly good image on the external monitor.

Could it just be a bad channel on the video card?

Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

I have a HP Pavilion dv9700z customizable Entertainment Notebook, bought in 03/05/2008 and have found out today that the motherboard has fried from too much heat.  This seem to be an on going problem with this PC as shown by this forum.  Thing is, I have been told by the computer wiz that I had look at the problem that it is a design problem by HP and involves several models.  I paid over $2,500.00 for this PC. and also own another HP laptop HP Pavilion dm3t and wonder how long this one will last.  I am getting bad vibes about all of this.

Since HP doesn't seem to care about its customers and fixing the problem since it is their design problem that caused it, I am wondering if I will ever buy another PC from HP.

HP, are you going to solve this problem and replace and/or fix our computers? You are loosing customers, I for one!

I had the same problem and worked fine on an external monitor but it finally died.  Seems the motherboard gets too hot and the solder finally breaks down.  Been told the motherboard will need to be replaced or resoldered.  Even if the motherboard is replaced, it will last only a few months.  My computer lasted 4 years so I guess that was a long time as it seems others lasted for only a few years.  Now I have a $2,500.00 piece of junk.

I hope you get this message. There is a company on Ebay that can fix your problem. It is called pc pitstop. They fixed my laptop cheap. They did a great job. You ship it to them and they fix it and send it back no hassel.

Look for Pc pitstop on ebay. They can fix it cheap. I had mine fixed works great. They put a new heat sink and made the fan run all the time. Now it runs fine. They were cheap and very fast. I have seen where hp has been removing post that have this company referral in it. I hope you get this.

Re: HP Pavilion dv9700 should also be on the list - but it is not even with a NVIDIA 8600 GPU

Hi:

I have had two HP laptops repaired--when the video chip quit cuz of overheating.

I have had great success with ProlaptopRrepair in Lebanon, Ohio. Do a search on eBay and find the one costing $79.

One of my laptops had a broken wire to the LCD screen, and it was repaired for no more charge than the original reflow solder work.

Instead of only griping about having dead computers, take the time to get it fixed for a LOT less than HP wants for a new motherboard (which will have the same problem).

BOth of my laptops quit working less than four months after the warratny expired.

GOod luck.
