HP Pavilion dv9704tx Entertainment PC
Windows 7 Ultimate
I bought this laptop in 2007. For over a year now, the graphics card is not working(i guess). When I open the properties of Computer, the Windows rating to graphics is just 1.
Even small games like Chess Titans are working slowly. When I open Chess Titans, a message appears which says: " Hardware accelaration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver which could slow the games performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware accelaration is turned on. "
Moreover, when I set a 3D Screen Saver, it shows the following message: " The screen saver cant run because it requires a newer video card or the one's that is compatible with Direct3D. "
What exactly is the problem, is the graphics card dead..? Please post an appropriate solution. ![]()

Hi:
Probably the graphics chip has gone bad on the motherboard which was a very common issue with the dv6000/dv9000 series notebooks.
Did you try reinstalling the Vista driver for your notebook from the support and driver page?
Maybe you can try that. If you can't get a driver to install, consider the matter unsolvable.

No, I didnt try reinstalling the driver as it was written there that the drivers were for windows Vista, I'll try reinstalling them. Do I have to install both the drivers..?

Hi:
No, you only need to install this one.
Hopefully that will get it for you.
A lot of Vista drivers work just fine for Windows 7.

I won't give up that easy.
Try this driver directly from nVidia.
32 bit

64 bit.
