My son recently began having problems with his laptop. While he was using it, the screen would go black. He restarted the laptop, and the screen would come back on. It has no gotten to the point that the LCD will not come on at all. When starting Windows, the HP screen briefly flashes, and then remains black. I have hooked the laptop to an external monitor, and we are able to see video. I tried doing a hard reset, and that didn't do anything either. I have tried everything I can think of to get the video back, but nothing has been successful. While browsing the internet, I came across an extended warranty provision that covers the black screen issue, but his P/N isn't listed. Has anyone had this issue and been able to fix it on your own? I am going to call HP tomorrow to see if anything can be done. This is so frustrating. He's had multiple issues with this laptop. Of course, the warranty ended in late May, early June.
