HP Probook 6540b not displaying on a projector to see dual view with window XP pro OS.

    We purchased some HP ProBook 6540b laptop from HP(still on warranty) and it comes with window 7 professional operating system, 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, window XP SP3 CD, the system drivers CD (both for windows 7 and window XP professional) and some others features. The laptop was downgraded to window XP professional SP3 CD and with system drivers CD that came with the laptop.

    Actually, when the laptop is connected to external monitors it display perfectly (showing either clone or single display) but when it was connected to an external projector it fails to display on the projector. Please, kindly give me suggestions or any assistant whatsoever to resolve this problem. I look forward for your suggestions and and advise towards solving this problem. Thanks.   

NB: With the window 7 professional operating system that came with the laptop, it display well on the projector when it      was connected to it.

Hello. I have the same problem, did you find a resolution?

I tried Intel generic drivers but they will only run one display at a time, either the LCD or the projector but not both.

Windows XP plug and play does see the projector as an additional monitor but only for a few seconds, then it removes the display.  This cycle happens over and over, off...on, off...on, etc...

My new laptop (7/2011) also has the same issue.  I can either view on screen using projector or on the LCD, but not both.  There's no graphic option to use a projector+display, nor does the fn+f4 work.  As a software trainer who's used plenty of Sonys & Dells in the past without a problem, I find this HP challenging at best!  PS. using XP OS (no choice).

Press the windows key and then tap P or alternatively go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Connect to Projector.
