HP Webcam Problems

I've had my hp laptop for 2 years now and I've been having trouble with the webcam. When ever I go on a webcam picture taking website to take a picture the webcam will turn on regularly but after a few minutes the screen where I'm the picture will turn black. I've searched many websites but none of them had my problem. I'll tap the webcam on my laptop gently, and it'll return back showing me taking the picture than go black again. I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC/ HP Pavillion dv6500. Windows Vista.
