HP dv6000 display

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and the screen is black. when i start it all lights work. I made sure all wires were connected. I tried getting it to display on my tv and couldn't get it to display. the lights go on but blink off and turn back on every 30 seconds or so. it also has a high pitch beep every once in awhile. I'm just trying to figure out if its my screen or my video card. Thanks for any help.

Darken the room get a flashlight  and power on the notebook. If you can see a very dim Windows desktop then the display inverter has failed.

Are you connecting it to an HDTV? Be sure and go into the TV's menu and set the source to PC or Computer.

FYI...some notebooks have discrete video modules (mini Pci-e) but they do not have video cards. Generally the video solution is a chip that is integrated into the chipset on the notebook's system board.

Re: HP dv6000 display

OK.

You will need to use the TV's menu to change the source from cable to Computer. You may also have to choose which HDMI connector you are using to connect the external video source .

Re: HP dv6000 display

If there is no video out to the LCD display nor to the HDTV via HDMI then the video solution integrated into the chipset on the notebook system board has failed.

If there is no video out to the external nor the LCD then the system board video chip has failed. The system board will have to be replaced to resolve the issue.

If I were you, I would check to see if there is a recall out for your notebook for video issues.  You need to find out your notebook is in the affected serial numbers if a recall exists for your model.

Identify your notebook with the p/n. Remove the battery and look for p/n and post the entire set of alphanumeric characters.
