someone passed me a link for the repair manual...http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf
i've already voided my warranty so i think cleaning and oil spill out of my screen and disconnecting the logo are my next projects anyways.

So? There is no sulotion yet? I use my laptop nearly 2 years now, and I posted a comment, just like u guys more than a year ago, and I forgot to check on it. As i ran through the posts, and comments, nothing happened in this topic. My shine through - only when the screen is off - spots didn' t get worse this past year at all. But I still have warranty for a few weeks. As I've read it guys bumped into laptop series in which all the screens had this faulty setting, or whatever it is... So what's with it?
Thanks...

Hello MarekPC. I understand you're also having the issue with your LCD screen.
If your notebook is currently still under warranty I encourage you to contact HP Support directly as soon as possible and let them know about the issue you're having.
The number for US/Canadian customers is 1-800-474-6836. If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.
Have a great day.

Thank you for your advice. I still have warranty, the HDD started to do some clicking noises, and sometimes one of the fans in it is buzzing, so I'll have a little trip to a local HP service point. Can I get an exchange notebook while this one is in the service? I need something to work on...

Hello again MarekPC.
Unfortunately, I do not believe they do that. However, you could always ask.
Since you mentioned that your hard drive is clicking it is a good idea to go ahead and run the diagnostic. I do not think the two issues are related but it would be good to know before contacting Support. This document can show you how to run the diagnostic.
Let me know the result.
