HPG60-635DX. Green vertical line down LCD screen.

There is a 2.5" thick vertical, green stripe down my lcd. Sometimes it turns purple as well. It isn't like a solid line. It changes the colors of the underlying graphics (like purples turn to white, black turns green, etc.)

Don't ask me how I figured this out, but it gets better if you press something to the top of the screen hard.

This is a HPG60-635DX notebook laptop which I purchased 15 months ago. Unfortunately, my warranty didn't get transfered from my other computer (which I had purchased a month prior and had been faulty and replaced with my current one), so I have no warranty.

I am trying to figure out if this is a problem with the LCD, the inverter, the video card, or something else.

What is wrong and what should I do?

Please use plain text.

Connect an external monitor to see if the problem transfers to the external display.

If it does not and as you say " ït changes when you press the screen hard" then you need to replace the LCD display to resolve the issue.

There is not a problem with the inverter. If the inverter was faulty you would not see your windows desktop at all. Your notebook has no video card. Video is produced by an integrated chip (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M).
