I have the same problem! My daughters netbook was bought the end of Decemeber and the screen cracked about 2 months later. We took it back to the store where we bought it and they gave us the HP #. I finally called a few weeks ago and the first person said yes they would fix it under warranty then the supervisor came on and said no. I argued it out and she agreed to look at it, but I just listened to a message saying it will cost $325+ to fix it as it is not covered. My daughter was using it, set it down, ran downstairs, came back up opened it up and it was cracked. I am not sure if it over heated or what, but I have another one that my son uses and I am tempted to return it. Obviously a design flaw if they break this easy. Not impressed and will never again buy anything HP unless they come up with a solution to fix this on warranty!!!

Just got off the phone with HP. The only thing they offered me was to fix it at a reduced rate, which is still more then what I paid for it in the first place. After spending a total of 2.5 hours on the phone and getting the run around, I can say that I will never again purchase a HP product or a netbook if that is how fragile they are. My school just purchased a whole bunch of them, god help them if the screens crack this easy, what will happen to them under a school environment!! A big waste of money in my opinion!

BE CAREFUL at who you listen to on this Chat.
HP has their own people on it.
WE ARE A NUMBER OF HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK USERS that have had the same POOR MANUFACTURING where the SCREEN CRACKS under slight pressure just by adjusting the vertical degree of the lid or closing and opening.

Being careful who you listen to in a forum is always good advice!
Trolls, agents provocateurs, quislings and {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} are everywhere, and a keyboard is an effective thing to hide behind.
In this particular thread, though, I haven't noticed anyone write anything positive about HP's poor design, manufacturing quality, or customer service. Who could do that with a straight face?
Neither of these is prohibited in the "Rules of Participation".
It's an idea with merit, but I think you need to find a different social space to explore it.

Zk;
You are correct in that I AM taking this to a different forum.
The Miami Herald contacted me about posting all the details of the experience on their TECH TUESDAY page.
They need to EXPOSED for all their shoddy manufacturing and then having the NERVE to tell many customers, not just me, that their Warranty does not cover if their crappy made computer does not hold up to normal use.

Thanks, C

Laptop under warranty, screen goes funky. Sent for repair, told not covered by warranty as it was an internal crack!!! Don't have a clue how it got cracked but they won't honor their warranty...can only assume it was defective when I bought it or damaged during shipment to them!!! Have a Dell used in the same manner, no problem. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE HP AGAIN & PLAN TO INFORM EVERYONE I CAN OF THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS. I do not feel the laptop is anywhere near as good a quality as our older Dell laptop & we have had no issues with that one. My daughter has an HP laptop also & has had it crash a couple times now. NEVER AGAIN. I do not feel HP is honoring their customers & apparently I'm not the first to have the screen crack with no provocation. I'm sorry for all you having to go thru the same problem. DO NOT BUY HP AGAIN!!!

DID YOU SEE THAT HP HAD THE CONTENT OF THE POST REMOVED SO THAT OTHER'S WOULD NOT SEE THAT R SHODDY MANUFACTURING IS THE CAUSE OF ALL THE CRACKED SCREENS THAT ARE UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY REFUSE TO HONOR COVERAGE? !!!!
If you paid for your REPAIR or your HP DEFECTIVE LAPTOP with a CREDIT CARD, DISPUTE the charge with your card. There is PLENTY of DOCUMENTATION here and in other BLOGS regarding HP and their problems with laptop screen cracking to support the DISPUTE.
HP CONTINUES TO IGNORE CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS regarding this EXTREMELY PREVALENT ISSUE and unless we band together and pressure them financialy, they will continue to charge unsuspecting customers for a MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WHICH THEY SHOULD COVER UNDER WARRANTY.

Looks like my post was removed too! Spoke with Josh at HP Case Management which is a joke. Basically offered a discount to repair my screen. Kicker is HE ARGUED & INTERRUPTED MY SENTENCES IN AN ARGUMENTIVE FASHION TO BLAME ME FOR BREAKING MY SCREEN!!! I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD SUCH RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE....HP SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!! I do not intend to pay to have their defective produce repaired & will be a Dell customer in the future. This was my 1st & last HP laptop!!!! GET THE WORD OUT & STOP THESE COMPANIES FROM TAKING ADVANTAGE OF NORMAL USE CUSTOMERS....HIT THEM IN THEIR POCKETBOOK WHERE IT COUNTS!!!
