Laptop screen has turned blank white --- HP G42-475DX

Screen has turned blank white all of a sudden. When I turn the computer on can hear windows loading in the back ground but can only see a blank white screen.  What happened and what can I do to clear the issue?

I had this problem recently on my g42-475dx. I turned it in to the HP service center for out-of-warranty repair. They replaced the system motherboard. I haven't seen the problem since the laptop was returned. It was first thought to be strictly an LCD panel problem, but I'm guessing the LCD controller on the motherboard was crapping out.
