I just purchased my HP G71-343US laptop the day after Thanksgiving, and occasionally after waking it up from sleep mode, it shows vertical strips that look grey but are actually just a many multicolor dots. It only does it after waking it up from sleep mode, and no time else. Also, it only does it occasionally and I cannot duplicate the problem. After restarting my laptop, the lines go away and the screen looks perfectly normal. I've tried installing the chipset and intel graphical drivers, but it did not fix the problem. I also hooked up my laptop to an external monitor (my tv) and it also shows the strips on the tv, so it shouldn't be a problem with my lcd monitor.. I took pictures and videos of the problem, because when I take a print screen of my screen, the lines don't show on the picture. Thanks for any help you have.

I HAVE JUST CONTACTED HP OVER THE SAME THING !!!! but mine is a Dv6-1375dx I hope HP reads this ....i dont have a picture for mine but looks just like this !!!!!

Suddenly my HP zd8000 laptop screen started showing colorful verical lines. I can still see on the screen but have these colored lines... pls advice as what could be the issue and possible solution?

I get the same problem on my Compaq Presario CQ61-220SA Notebook PC
this comes with a mobile intel 4 series express chipset, the video card drivers are identified as version 22.214.171.1241 and dated 14/12/2009. interestingly, the hp website lists version 126.96.36.1993 and dated 11/2009.
the laptop was originally running vista, which i upgraded to windows 7 using the hp upgrade offer.
i am going to attempt to install the version from the website, effectively rolling back my current version. and i will report back my findings...

Same exact problem on HP Pavillion DV-6. The lines appear after the computer has been put to sleep, are resolved with a restart. Seems to have started occurring after the graphics driver update a couple of weeks ago, but win7 won't let me roll back the driver.

i didnt use windows device manager to rollback the driver, i just installed an earlier version from the hp support website. the installer prompted me to confirm that i wanted to install an earlier version, which i did.
can you confirm that you also have an intel graphics chipset and win 7 32 bit?

well, since installing the version of the gfx drivers from the hp support website, i have not had a repeat of the problem.
i will post again if it comes back, else it look like case closed for me <fingers crossed>

Same problem here in the Uk with a 3 month old G61-110E WIN 7 64. It was ok to start with but this started happening about two weeks ago. Coming out of sleep with the stripes on the screen.
Another thing is when I try using the HDMI socket to my TV the computer screen shows, but the colours are completely wrong. That also was working ok earlier.
My drivers on the coputer also show an older date than the hp site.
i am going to try changing drivers wish me luck.
