Laptop screen won't turn on

I recently got a used laptop, a pavilion dv7 and the screen won't turn on, the power comes on but the screen doesn't, i also have another laptop which is a pavilion ze1000, and I was wondering if there was someway to take out everything from the old laptop and put the newer laptop components in it, or I was wondering if it might be a problem with the graphics card, and I was wondering if I could put the pavilion ze1000 graphics card into the dv7 just as like a makeshift graphics card for a while, can I do it? Their both pavilions

Re: Laptop screen won't turn on

Even though they are both Pavilions, nothing is interchangeable.

You may be able to take the screen from the ze1000 and put it in the dv7 if the dv7 screen size is 4:3 like the ze1000, but even then the back light system would have to be the same as well.

If you have an external monitor try hooking that up to the dv7 and see if you have can get a desk top. If you can, then the graphics card is probably OK and you need a new laptop screen, cable, inverter and/or backlight.

Also note that it is not practical to take out a graphics card from one laptop and put it in another even if they were exactly the same. The cards are soldered onto the MoBo 99% of the time and special equipment is needed for the operation.
