I have an HP Probook 4520s laptop, running Windows 7 64 bit system. It is almost 1 year old and for 1 year I have been trying to find out why my AMD Display keeps freezing. The symptoms are as follows: I open my Windows Live Email program. I work away happily. Boinnk, the mouse doesn't work. Boink - the scrreen flashes and gives me heavy black line. I am unable to do anything except x out of the windows live mail program, and then start > program back in. The other symptom is when I am on line on the internet. I use IE Browser most uptodate version 9.0.8112.16421 - 64 bit edition. I have contact HP at least 6x to find out if there is a new driver for the "AMD Display". I have downloaded what appeared to be solutions to the AMD issue and have followed to the letter the instructions to run these "fixes". I continue to have trouble with the AMD Display. I phoned HP a few weeks ago, and spoke to a lady in China. She directed me to the exact pages I had already been, but I humored her. She pointed me to the Graphics Display to download, which I did. I was able to get something called Catalyst to install, and run successfully. But the next time I went into Windows Live Mail - Boink - AMD Display stopped working, and later on a website again the system freezes up. Obviously there is still a problem. Now here's the funny thing - the lady in China said she would leave my trouble ticket open for a few days in case my problem returned. Since I don't work exclusively trying to fix my computer day and night it was about 3 days before I had an opportunity to think about gong back to HP and report that their fix was not yet working. But wouldn't you know it - I got an email that morning that my help number had been closed. Now I have to start all over again with the process. HP - why don't you just tell people that you will replace their computer with a working one? I am now so close to my warranty expiry that I risk having to pay for further support on this matter. Closing my trouble ticket is just simply unacceptable. If anyone has a solution for the AMD Display for HP laptops, please post it in WIKI Encyclopedia as well, because obviously HP hasn't got a clue. HP - if you have a clue and a solution, please stop treating your customers so poorly. I look forward to receiving a new laptop so that I can dump all my contents on it, and send this piece of junk back.
