NEVER BUYING ANOTHER HP PRODUCT AGAIN

[ Edited ]
HP has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Whenever I call their help lines its always some Arab/Indian person I am unable to understand. My dv9700 notebook was only a year and 4 days old but because of those 4 days it was out of warranty. They told me that for any over the phone support I would have to pay an additional $100. My video card went out on my motherboard, it was a Geforce 8600M GS and ran world of warcraft beautifully.... when it worked. I am a college student and when someone tells you that your $1500 computer is no more than a door stop it is very heart breaking. I did call back and find out there was a "repair" option I could go with which would require them mailing me an empty box, me sending my laptop, and then me getting it back all fixed for over $400. What they were actually going to "repair" they never said, they didn't even know 100% what was wrong with it... For some reason I chose that option but then the following day I cancled it. In the end for over $400 dollars you might as well get a new computer that you know is new and isn't HP. Of course canceling the repair option wasn't a simple task, I had to wait on the phone for hours for them to cancel it. To top it all off they instantly charged me for the "repair" service even though they didn't do jack **bleep** and didn't even know what was even wrong with my laptop to begin with. Replacement motherboards for this model are only around $150-$200 so they must of been charging me quite a bit to install and ship. When I called to cancel the "repair" they told me I could get a whole new computer, why they never told me this in the first place I'll never know, I sure as hell didn't want another HP computer so I declined that offer.<text deleted>The funny thing is (if there is anything funny about this) that my gateway M460 that I purchased in May 2005 is still working strong. The only problem I've ever had is replacing a hard drive which was simple and easy. I actually replaced the hard drive on my HP laptop as well but wasn't about to pay over $400 for them to further "repair" whatever was wrong. I can not stress this enough <text deleted> The End
