I'm sure you know your stuff, but I have two tips just in case.
AMD has released new drivers for most Linux operating systems which you can find at their website. This will install CCC. Warning though, switching to your intel-based card may cause your system to hang. You'll have to boot into command line with F1 or something like that, and change the ATI config yourself.
Usually the AMD driver w/ CCC only works for using the AMD gpu.
Also, do you have the correct information where Drivers and BIOS is concerned?
*Sure you've done it but check your laptop for a sticker on the bottom or in the battery bay. You can use the product name on the sticker
Such as, "HP Pavilion ***" to search up your drivers (try searching your product by country to see the differences in the drviers HP offers by country.)
I tried to replicate the "Bricking" experiencing, but the only way it worked was by installing the wrong BIOS.
Just trying to help as best as possible.

Hope your problems get fixed and good luck.

Re: Will Not Switch to ATI Graphics

Hey JustAfix. There are a couple of ways to boot into it with a HP laptop: nomodeset, video.allow_duplicates=1, pci=noacpi to name a few. However, installing any driver results in blackscreen ie. no Xorg. The only solution is to delete xorg.conf and get then remove --purge the ati driver (and restore mesa). I was checking it to make sure that PCI: is correct and it was. I think PCI=1:00:00 or something, cant remember. As for the BIOS and laptop version, yes, i read some RTFM and i know which laptop i have :smileyhappy: The problem is that the drivers supplied do not match. I will crawl around the HP site and give you the link i used. It seems that there are 2 pages containing HP G62-a70sm drivers and if you choose the wrong one - you get stuck with the problem i had (one page was completely black and the other was white). I had to do a fresh install of w7. I am NOT using any of the drivers supplied on the site because the only thing i get is bad performance. I've let w7 install all the updates and its flying atm - i have never been more satisfied with my laptop. Also, i used the 12.2 driver from the guru3d site. It needs tweaking because the driver doesnt "understand" the screens properly but after a few minutes i got it to work the way its supposed to. Frankly, i wont be coming back to the support site to get drivers and updates (which of course will never come). I will however try to help people here solve their problems because there is no real support. Finally, i will look these pages up and post them here so you can check them out (if you want). Thanks for trying to help. V
