My dv4-1225 Pavilion has the same problem as all the many Pavilions that have already been recalled, but it is not on the recall list. I see elsewhere on these message boards that other people are having the same problem with this and other Pavilion models that also are not on the list. The problem evidently goes well beyond what HP has acknowledged. If you have this problem as well please call HP and let them know. They should offer extended limited warranty service to our models as well; this is unfair and is shameful in that HP is ignoring the extent of the issue.

I totally agree. I called and HP Total Care wouldn't admit to anything. Especially since CNET and Tom's Hardware revealed that HP and Nvidia have known about the issue since November 2007. I wish somebody would post an image to show the microfracture of the solder used to mount the Nvidia GPU Chipset on the motherboard to make HP react in fixing the issue.
In my opinion all Nvidia GPU chipsets are suspect until HP stops using Nvidia.
I sent my Dv9233cl into HP for repairs. Chances are they fixed my board with the same crap board that will fail in another 3 years. Maybe HP thinks laptops should only have a life until the warranty expires then they want you to go buy a new one.

I spoke with HP again this morning after a supervisor never called me back yesterday as promised. They refused to today to put me through to a supervisor and read me the same rote lines that they had read me yesterday. Clearly many people are calling them about the same issue.
I am going to file a suit against them tomorrow morning because there is evidently a problem they have known about since well before they sold me my unit. They should not treat customers this way, and from message boards it appears that there are an awful lot of people out there who are having these problems.
Do you have a link to CNET or Tom's Hardware's comments on the issue?
Many thanks.

Pavilion DV4 only a year old stop charging, fan is so loud that you can hear it from two rooms away. Key boad latters are hard to see in dim light.

My wife has a Pavilion dv4-2145dx which has developed a Power switching circuit fault a month out of warranty. This is a manufacturing problem, I wish HP would man up and sort it out. I currently have an HP laptop and am worried that it is going to mess up the same way. I don't think I will be buying HP again.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this horrible laptop to your recall list. I just got off the phone with HP again. This time I was told that they can fix this issue if I cough up 300 bucks!!!! Really? I understand that I am out of warranty but I sent this back twice with nothing fixed even though they stated that they had resolved the issues. While I was still under warranty! My computer gets so hot it has caused rashes on my four year olds legs THROUGH PANTS!!! After only 10 mins of use. The battery died 3 months after I purchased it from Bestbuy for 900 and some change. The mouse dose what it wants when it wants, My screen randomly goes black and its sounds like I'm flying a jet when I am using it. This is not OK by any means. My brother bought the same laptop and the same time at the same BestBuy. Nine months later it got so hot it fried the motherboard. Now hes out a computer and mine is on the same path. We all go lemons and we all trusted HP and BestBuy. Now it seems as though we are all {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion}. I am a IT Pro and I understand that Technology advances Fast really FAST but this is no excuses to have my 2 yr old laptop that has been taken care of to be doing this and for HP to say "Ohh well sorry for your loses buy a new one" Really? this is how you treat your consumers? Unless this issue is resolved you have lost a family of customers that used HP(Seven people to be exact) and I will spread the word that this company is horrible.
I trusted you HP/Compact We all trusted you..... Thanks for nothing........
