According to your specs, your display is not 3D capable. However with the correct player (ArcSoft Total Media Theatre) you can turn a 2D Blu-ray into simulated 3D, but it will be the analog 3D with the red and green glasses.
In theory if you went out and bought a 3D monitor that comes with the active shutter glasses, then you would be able to play a 3D movie.
As far as I know HP only makes one Envy model that is 3D capable.

Thank you for the information. I have a 3D monitor with Active Shutter glasses in mind by Acer. How would that work? Would it just be a case of trying it? Its a good spec monitor anyway so i'm tempted.

Use your HDMI connection, if you don't have one, then you're out of luck. It has also been said you need HDMI 1.4 and most are 1.3.
Certainly go ahead and try it, you're not going to hurt anything, it will either work or it won't.
