Whenever I try to connect my laptop to my television to use as an external display, the laptop screen turns black and is frozen in that state. NOthing displays on either screen and I am unable to use F4 to change the external display settings. The screen is totally frozen. I can't ALT+CLT+DEL either. I'm positive that this isn't the TV since i tested it with 2 other laptops and there was no problem. Can anyone offer advice? I appreciate all feedback, thanks!

I was having similar problems when connecting my laptop to my LED TV. Eventually I figured out a semi-solution where one of my media players must have an active file in it. I can open Windows Media Player and start a video, and the display will show up on the TV. The display remains there even if I pause or minimize the video. But as soon as I close the media player, the screen goes blank again. This same scenario happens if i begin a song in iTunes, the display will turn on, and will remain on if the song is paused and/or minimized, but will again go blank as soon as the program is closed.
Very weird issue, if anyone has a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.
