Screen gets static and distorted when moving the laptop screen (lid)

laptop hp pavilion zt3000 with windows xp

when the computer is on and i move the screen or "the lid" it freezes the computer and the image has static horizontal lines across the screen, sometimes just goes blank.

with the computer frozen i restart holding the power button when i start it again screen will be blank and the computer wont boot up.

(im guessing its not booting because i dont hear the windows login audio sound but the computer lights are on and fans are working)

screen only turns on when its opened 20° from start, then i can move it little by little

tried to fix it by buying a new hd inverter and reconnecting all the cords inside the lid but im still having same trouble

sounds like a bad cable from the board to the LCD....or the LCD is bad...but I found they will boot without the

LCD ... have you tried it on a external monitor?...

No its the same even when i plug in a external monitor, it doesnt boot and if i get it to after cuple trys the main laptop monitor statics out and external turns off.

not sure if u are having the same issue as me or not. my screen will do the same things but it is fine to move. i was researching in some other forums and found a few things that could be related to voltage issues and temperatures.

 i probably wont get back on here to see if this has been replied to. but if your battery is shot, or if u run it on ac all the time will the battery in it. try just taking out the battery and runing it off the cable...mine was starting to do that screen thing and not boot up constantly. but my battery is no good anymore. since i have taken it out tho, so far it has been fine. good luck and check plenty of other forums. there are plentymore ppl asking the same questions.

im havin tha same problem my screen has a static n horizontal line but mine is a hp notebook
