Screen goes black in normal mode but not in safe mode

I too am having this problem again! My screen goes black in "Normal Mode" but will work in safe mode with networking. It first happened 40 days after I bought my HP Pavillion dv9339us from Circuit City in July 2007, I called HP then and they said they didn't know what was wrong and I should take it back to the store where I purchased it. I did that and Circuit City said that it was past their 30 day return policy and they couldn't help me either. So, I went back home and called HP again, after hours of talking to a rep. in India or wherever they were and getting nowhere my husband took it back to Circuit City and refused to leave until they fixed it. Finally, after they had it for about 4 hours they said they used the recovery discs and it is fine now. Well guess what, it happened again on Friday.

There are thousands of blogs online with people having the same issues and I did find the link where they show the models that have been recalled-mine isn't on there and it is not on the recall for the battery either. which gets hot enough to melt a piece of plastic.

My computer tech told me that using it on safe mode will only buy me some time to find a new laptop. So, for the person who wrote the earlier blog you may want to start looking for a new laptop as the repairs for an unwarranted Pavillion will be $400 - $600. I spent $1500 on this HP Pavillion laptop and they won't stand by their product-sad. I welcome any suggestions from HP support or customer care, unless I have to pay for it.

Re: Screen goes black in normal mode but not in safe mode

i am still covered under the extended warranty thankfully; should i demand a new computer or is there no hope as a replacement will have the same problem?
