Screen on my Pavilion dv6 is dim

When I powered my laptop on, there was a brief moment when there was a kind of scrambled image across the scree, then it booted up normally. However, the screen is very dim; I have turned the brighteness all the way up and it is still much darker than normal.

i have had a simalar prob with mine, when booting up the backlight for the screenfails to light up. Iam now on my 3rd laptop in 6 weeks. HP say they are not aware of this problem and gave me another phone number to ring after talking to an advisor for over 20minutes.

Mine was dim, but, after visiting some configuration help screen, now my back light is black. I tried using the key sequence for high contrast, to no avail. I want to know how to restore the default screen color / visibility
