Screen will not start anymore

Hi all,

I'm using a Compaq Presario CQ61-310SD with Windows 7 64-bit installed. I usually only restart after updates that need restarts, in between i put the laptop in sleep mode.

 

Last time i used the forums i had a problem with the brightness settings, which was solved by installing something with Chipsets. After i installed this, my screen started doing strange things. When 'flowing' from login screen to windows, the 'flow' wasn't flowing anymore, but stripey and shaky. I thought: well, at least brightness settings are okay again, so i just took it for granted.

 

Then the day before yesterday, the brightness settings were stuck again. So I restarted my laptop. The screen wouldn't start. Second startup. Screen wouldn't start. Third startup, screen starts, checkdisk starts. All good.

 

Then today, I had to restart after windows update, the screen wouldn't start again. I restarted 6 times, last 3 times with a windows repair disk inserted. No help. I tried removing the battery, unplugging it for about 30 seconds and restarting again, with no results.

 

So what can be the problem, and is this solvable?
