I have HP G72-B10EM XF084EA, 17.3", Core i3, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM, Linux. But I installed windows 7 instead of linux on it. after I installed windows 7 I noticed the resolution isn't as good as it should be so I tried to change it. So I opened screen resolution on my desktop with right mouse click and i saw that I have Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Why doesn't my laptop recognize ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD5470? Does it have to do with it that i installed windows 7?
Please help me ![]()

Try running Windows update and look for the video driver in optional updates or you can install this driver for your model.
Save it to the desk top and install it from there, not from a temporary folder, redstart the machine after the install is complete.

Have you installed Intel Chipset (first) and ATI Graphics drivers posted for your model?

Try a manual install of the ATI driver. It should have extracted to C:\SwSetup\SP50231 when you ran it.
From Device Manager right click the VGA and choose Update driver, selecting to browse for the driver.Direct the wizard to C:\SwSetup\SP50231.

This worked for me:
first download ATI Graphics Driver , it will install in C:\swsetup\sp50231\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7
Right click your card in device manager, choose update driver software -> Browse -> Let me pick -> Have disk -> Browse -> Choose: C:\swsetup\sp50231\Packages\Drivers\Displ![]()
Thanks again CherylG ![]()

You're welcome, happy to hear the Manual install worked. Not sure why, but many times the only way to get graphics driver installed is to do the Update driver from Device Manager and fool Windows into thinking you have a driver disk.![]()
