Switchable graphics

Hello

I have a notebook HP Pavilion g6-1180sp with windows 7 64-bit with a Radeon HD 6470M and a onboard Intel card.

How can I choose to run only the Radeon card all the time and disable completely the Intel card?

Thank you.

Re: Switchable graphics

Reboot, enter your BIOS setup, change from switchable graphics to "fixed".  Save & exit BIOS.  Boot windoze.  Go to your Catalyst Control Center, find the section for configuring switchable graphics.  It now gives you a choice of whether your setting is fixed at high perf or power saving.

Re: Switchable graphics

That option doesn't exist in my bios. I've updated it with the update in this link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=pt&cc=pt&dlc=pt&sw_lang=&product=5116...

I also went to the HP Support in my pc and installed all the updates. I saw that option of fixed graphics in many forums but my bios never had it

Re: Switchable graphics

I don't know if it can help, but my BIOS version is F.41 (HP Support site says it's the most recent one)

Re: Switchable graphics

Sorry, I did not realize the BIOSes differ in this way.  I am using F.1B, can't help with others.

Re: Switchable graphics

It's ok. I don't understand why they removed that option. Everytime I want to auto-detect the best graphic options for a game it always chooses with the Intel graphic card.

Did you try to update your drivers before the proble was noticed? Or reinstall Windows?

Re: Switchable graphics

Yes, I've updated the drivers and the BIOS given by HP (since I can't update the drivers from AMD site because it says it's not possible). I haven't reinstalled windows because I use the default one that came with the computer. I've seen many forum posts and it seems that the BIOS for this computer doesn't support the fixed method and I must use the dynamic mode. Even in DxDiag doesn't appear the ATI card in the system specifications.

Re: Switchable graphics

Ok, I need to clearly understand what you want. Do you want power off the Intel card or just use the ATI for all applications and never switched to the Intel video card?

Re: Switchable graphics

I'm not worried about the power saving in the computer, so I want to use the ATI card always and never switch to the Intel card. If possible, to disable the Intel card completely.
