In any case, I will simply not buy a HP product since I put trust on certain logos. I have owned ATI and HP for a long time. There are options and have no problem buying Nvidia and Asus.

I wish I had any optioins to buy. HP is now comfily sitting on all my money for their profits (oh but I could always buy a NEW LAPTOP THREE MONTHS AFTER I JUST BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP AND SPENT TWO OF THEM HAGGLING WITH HP TECH/CUSTOMER SUPPORT/CASE MANAGERS...) to give them more money because they decided to finally change to an Nvidia model GPU that actually is supported by the manufacturer!
But hey that's what I deserve for zomgawth!, buying the HP laptop! Now I should be nice and snug with my....... useless brick that wouldn't even run Diablo 2 because it has no OpenGL on a DEDICATED CARD option that had cost 200$ ....... ain't life just so *just*? You know, like this concept - I believe it's known as "justice"....

I see in other threads and forums that people are figuring out workarounds and installing unofficial or mod drivers and such, but that to me is unacceptable, especially after spending the amount of money we do on these laptops.

That's interesting Slimrock, Ghost Recon is one of my favorite older games that I still like to play from time to time. I've never played games online. Up until recently I've always had a dial up connection if you can believe it. LOL I'm looking forward to the latest one, Future Soldier.
Well, I'm not around my PC at the moment, but if memory serves me, I can uncheck switchable graphics in the CCC so that I can use only the 7690m XT.

Yup have been in several FonCon’s on this issue, there are numerious complaints on their support forum too.
Here is the last contact with HP support I had today, I managed to get the case “escalated” (smirks) to the next level, but who knows where that is probably the next desk over. If you want you can use this info and add your 2 cents, reference my case number, that should save you the time explaining it yourself. Have no idea just how far this will have to go before it ends up solved. I gave them my solutions.
Your case number is: 7502470992

for what its worth, here is a link to AMD support. Its all I found to try and send them some sort of complaint on their piss poor support for their brand name cards (radeon) that makers like HP like to stick their brand name stickers on laptops. I sent a long rant to them just now, as I have HP, it would be magic to see anything positive from these giants, but with enough noise they may notice.
Here is the link for anybody that feels like “ranting”
All I asked is these 2 talk to each other and either HP start picking up each new AMD update and make it useable to their users, Or AMD start supporting their damned cards and make the new drivers useable for these damned moble/switchable graphics cards, like this bastardized 7690M XT.
btw I thought this 7690M XT had a 900mhz core? mine shows 800.
