Weird dead/stuck pixel in HP Pavilion dv7-6c10eo

Hi,

I bought HP Pavilion dv7-6c10eo two days ago and I have noticed a strange pixel defect. The pixel is a very bright white dot which is visible in white and coloured backgrounds. However when the background is black, the white dot is not visible. Has anyone had similar problems?

Hi Omega,

Bummer way to join the Forum... Still, welcome to you!

Dead pixels are usually not good.  You can try updating the drivers and BIOS...

if the updates do not fix it, then you Call HP - it's hardware.

See this document, pop the section at "A small dot is too bright or black"

Take a look at the text and the graphic.

I hope this helps!

Re: Weird dead/stuck pixel in HP Pavilion dv7-6c10eo

Well well well,

It's me again. It turned out that the internal microphone array and webcam were also broken in my new Pavilion notebook (a very common defect in these models I have come to find out). So the computer was declared a "dead on arrival" case and I received a completely new system.

The white dead pixel problem is however AGAIN present in a different area of the screen. It's quite unbelievable that the quality control at HP is this terrible. I think I'm going to shop for an Asus laptop next time... :smileywink:

Re: Weird dead/stuck pixel in HP Pavilion dv7-6c10eo

Hey Omega,

Speechless.  :smileysurprised:  What a piece of work that was.  Paperweight.

I have a bunch of HP notebooks - from eight years old to about eight months.  Most have never needed repair of any kind.  The oldest one (dv8130us) is still running on the all original hardware.

I did get DOA webcam this last time that turned a five star day into a disappointment until I finally broke down and sent the unit in for repair.  I did not want to send back a brand new computer over a dead webcam... it took me several weeks to come to terms with the fact that it was really DEAD, I guess.  Smiling.

Asus makes a good notebook.  Most everyone does, really.. it's just a matter of not getting the one that was built before everyone went on break, I guess.

Thanks for posting back.  Sorry you got burned... well, burned-out pixelwise, I guess.

Give HP another shot if you can stand it...  one never knows, the relationship could start to thrive.  Smiling.

Good Luck!

Kind Regards,
Dragon-Fur
