Why will vidoes not play all the way through on my laptop? .

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-3173nr.  When I try to play any video, whether it's you tube or something on my local tv channel website, it will play the first 10 seconds or so and then get stuck. I have the same problem on other computers in the household--could it be a problem with our internet service?

Run a check on the speed of your internet connection using a site like the one on the link below, in case this is what's causing the problem - post back with the Upload and Download speed results.

The download rate was 10.87 mbps.  I let it run awhile and it didn't give me an upload rate but it was varying between .07 and .14 as it was running.  Thank you.

Well the speed is certainly Ok.  Follow the procedure in the guide by Daniel_Potyrala on the link below to first Uninstall and then reinstall the Adobe Flashplayer plugin.

I uninstalled Flash Player and tried to install the latest version.  The download keeps timing out.  I have not been able to download Flash Player.

Hi,

Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start up to access Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select 'Safe Mode with Networking' and hit enter.  Let windows fully load in this mode and see if you can now download the Flash Plug-in installer - don't browse anywhere else as your security software will not be running while in this mode.  To exit Safe Mode, simply restart the notebook in the usual way and Windows will start normally.

I followed your instructions and put the laptop in Safe Mode.  I went to the adobe flash player site and tried to download the flash player.  It got to 11% and then said "cannot contact reliable source."  I don't know what this means.

I have followed the suggestions offered and still have not been able to reinstall Flash Player on my laptop.  Every time I try, it gets to 11% then I get the message :Cannot contact reliable source.  What does this mean?  Do I need to turn off the firewall when trying to install?
