same as the rest...dv9500 ...video down...nvidea card 8600...been contacting hp daily ...still won't admit problem...please everyone contact hp until you are blue in the face...boycott until this wrong is righted

My dv9500 also has the bad Nvidia GPU. getting nothing but run around from support.
People are comp-laining on the business forum too.

I have a dv9000t that I bought 12/06. I actually bought 3 of them in 12/06 and one got sent back still in warranty for a new motherboard (no charge) but a second one was out of warranty when the problem occurred. (paid $400.00 for repair) also bought a dv2000 in 8/07 that we've had nothing but problems with, so I think it's fair to say I won't be going with HP again. Which pains me... cause I read such good things about HP before I bought these laptops.
My problem now is that I want to play a game that requires at least a Nvidia GeForce8800GTS. Mine is Go 7600. So my questions is, can I upgrade it?
I would appreciate any info anyone can send my way

+1 for me too. dv9260nr laptop display is "fried".
How do you get HP to help you with this defective laptop?
Mine is an HP Pavillion dv9260nr ( dv9000 series ) and the same problem happened with mine has with all of yours...
The screen shows blotches of white and grey, and sometimes lines through it.
I have spoken with an HP case manager and she said HP would not fix it unless I paid $500 or so.
She even told me to get over it because laptops aren't supposed to last that long anyway.
Since so many people are talking about the same problem (and who knows how many aren't speaking up), this is obviously a defective product.
My experience with HP has been absolute crap.
What gives, HP?
Anyone have any tips for me?

I am having the same problem as the rest of this forum. I have a dv9000t, that was purchased in November 2006. And of course the extended warranty that I purchased has now expired.
While in the middle of a word document I received a display error message immediately followed by another message that the error had been corrected. The screen then went black and remained that way for several days. Then it seemed to return to normal until I shut down the computer and tried to reboot. The screen has been black ever since. I spoke to an authorized technician who told me that the motherboard was gone and that I should add my concerns to this forum. He said there have been a number of others with the same forum and that maybe if HP reviews our concerns they will take some positive action.

This is a widely-known manufacuring defect that involves the Nvidia chipset in your laptop. HP has a very limited warranty & doesn't recognize that thousands like you and me are having this problem. <text deleted> The company will try their hardest to charge you for repair of a component that was defective before they ever sold you your laptop.
