HI,
I have the same problem, my opinion is that after an automatic update (?) the graphic card do not work at all..
a bleu screen indicate that the problem was on a file named nvlddmkm.sys
after this I was unable to restart the hp (DV9244EA) used at home always on desk... ![]()
Ok reinstall the OS New programs new drivers but it doesn't work, in vga mode works (sometimes) with orginial drivers does not work...
Dear HP what sould we do? Buy a New One? where we can find the spare for a good price?
Many thanks
L.

It almost isn't worth the trouble sending it back to HP to repair. My DV9000 quit - lights would come on but no video whatsoever. I sent it to Precision Division in Fl and they repaired the board. They also made improvements to the board so that it would run cooler. My fan runs on high, so it's louder - but if I have to choose between a louder fan and a dead laptop, I'll take the louder fan.
Anyway, my laptop runs 15 degrees C cooler than before they repaired it, so I was happy. Cost me 125 for the repair plus shipping, but it was well worth it. I was told that the riskiest part of the repair process is computer controlled but operator monitored. Apparently, those DIY youtube videos are temporary fixes that are bound to fail again.
I'll probably never buy another HP again, but, the funny thing about it is, when they work, they work good. It wasn't the failures that made me decide to never buy another HP,but rather their lack of responsiveness to customer concerns. It's good to know that there are companies out there like Precision Division that are picking up the slack for HP.
Here's a link to the repair that I purchased:
Not sure if Ebay links expire, but you can also find it by searching the ebay item number, which is 230454322099

I purchased a dv9035nr laptop and an HP desktop within a month of each other and both shut down the same day. The sad thing is it was the day after my birthday. For the laptop I disabled the video driver in the safe mode, rebooted and the screen is at least as good as it is in the safe mode so I can still use the computer to get on line etc. Incidentally, I purchased a new Asus desktop last week and absolutely love it. Eventually I’ll replace the MB in the HP desktop which actually came with an Asus MB.
Remember to just disable the driver because if you uninstall it, windows will re-install it when you reboot.

All Nvidia 8400-8600 series are bad but HP refuses to repair these laptops.Call tech support and troubleshoot all the way up to Executive case manager.
Trust me on this.If you dont want to actually file, just fax a letter of intent to this same office. inform them you intend to file a claim with the attorney general, better business bureau, and the safety commision (for overheating) and you will see them spring to action!

Ok people....
HP tell me no way, (buy new PC)
I'd dismatled the pc (DV9244EA) in 20mins, and taking care of the other parts of MB I'd cooked the invidia card (as U can see in many UTUB videos but in a professional way) and now it work well ![]()
TANKS HP!!!
PS the problem was generataed only by the termal stress not from other think...
