hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

My HDX18 connected to an external monitor.  When powering up monitor, "no signal received" message is displayed on monitor.  This was a working arrangement and has recently stopped after disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor.

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

Try to attach the monitor to another machine to make sure the monitor is working.  Try to attach another monitor to your machine.  Did you recently update any driver software, especially video?  You did try the function and F key combination for switching between external, internal and both monitors?

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

Things to try :

Go directly to Intel and run the automated driver finder and install the latest chipset driver. Do not install any other drivers it may find, leave those alone.

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

Go to NVIDIA and install the latest driver, save the driver to the desk top and run it from there, not from a temporary folder. When running the install file, go to advanced and choose to do a clean install of the driver.

http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/42588  (I am guessing that this is the correct one)

This one is for the GT 130M, W7 or Vista 64 bit, if you're running the GT9600M, it's a bit newer, if you can't find it, post again. I am also assuming that you're running 64 bit.

After you have done all the above, do a hard reset. Remove the battery, adapter and all things connected to the laptop. Hold down the power button for 1 minute and plug only the adapter in _ boot up _ shut down _ install the battery.

Boot up the laptop and turn on the TV.

Have the TV selected away from the HDMI input that you're using for the computer.

Connect your HDMI cable to the laptop and TV and now select the correct input for the TV.

 Hopefully it will work now.:smileyhappy:

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

Thank you, I tried the simple "Fn" F4 toggle and to my amazement the monitor popped on.

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

I am confused _ if using the f4 key to change to external moitor worked, why did you mark my answer as a solution ?

If the f4 solution from Danjen worked then I will change the solution to his. :smileyhappy:

The rule of thumb is to always go with the simpler of the two or what ever number there happens to be.

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

I apologize guys, my first time on the forum.  I intended to give you a positive kudo, and will indicate your answer was the solution.  So if somehow I sent along a negative kudo.  Thank you all for your assistance, my monitor is working great now.

Re: hdx18 external monitor not receiving signal

Yes, the pigs needed tending. Sorry for the confusion, as noted in my note to Danjen, this is my first time asking a questioin on the forum, and I wasn't sure which buttons to push. As I mentioned, I didin't get to your solution since the F4 worked.
