how to fix these multicolored horizontal lines that are covering 3/4 of the screen and a black splat

these multicolored horizontal lines were covering 3/4 of the screen and a black splat/leaf looking/shattered thing was in the bottom left hand corner. I can still click buttons anywhere on the screen, the screen can change (it's not frozen), and I can type and it shows up just fine. But I don't know how to get rid of those lines and the black splat. Please help me!   its a compag presario cq57

The only way to get rid of the lines and black splat is to replace the screen. Your screen has a crack in it. You must of closed something in the laptop, or something has hit the screen in the bottom left hand corner, or someone stepped on the corner of your laptop.
